Poppy returns with her newest music video for her fresh song called “Her.”
Following suit of her dark vibes and dystopian-type visuals, the video was created by animator and director Chris Ullens, and the details are pretty eerie. The faces on the doll, assuming this is the representation of Poppy, changes from indifferent, to happy, to angry, before sending you into the assembly line of blonde musicians that are formulated to play for the queen. Every time the queen is unhappy, she ditches the musician who she feels is not playing up to snuff and swaps them out for a new creation. It’s unclear but from the viewer’s perspective, one could guess this is a parallel to how quickly the music industry will cast you out once you don’t fit the script.
This release is the second song off of her newest collaboration with WWE’s NXT, where she dropped her 5-song EP entitled ‘EAT (NXT Soundtrack).’
“Not since Cyndi Lauper and the birth of WrestleMania have we seen an iconic female rock star and pro-wrestling collide in such a culturally fascinating way,” Sumerian CEO Ash Avildsen said of the collaboration. “This is a historical moment for Sumerian, an inspiring story for the new generation of WWE fans and a glimpse into the future of what’s to come from the brilliant mind and vision of Poppy.”
