You know those stories like “You won’t believe what X dude looks like now?” This is one of those.
Ethan Suplee, probably most popular for his work on ‘My Name Is Earl,’ as well as being a constant cameo in Kevin Smith movies like ‘Chasing Amy’ and ‘Clerks II’ along with his ‘My Name Is Earl’ co-star Jason Lee, has always been typecast as, well, not putting this delicately, but an “overweight, nerdy dude,” and maybe he got sick of that.
Why you may ask? Because he’s super ripped now. We’re talking to the point of not being recognizable.

THIS GUY WASN’T FUCKIN’ AROUND!
Sadly, the entertainment industry wasn’t fully accepting of this. Ladbible quotes him saying:
“Initially, the casting directors didn’t want me to come in because I’d lost a bunch of weight. Apparently they had proposed me a bunch of times, but the casting directors were like, ‘No, he’s too thin now.'”
“After My Name Is Earl, I started obsessively riding bicycles. I actually did get properly thin at one point – I was nine percent body fat. But I was also riding a bicycle six to eight hours a day, six days. After two years of that, my wife said, ‘Hey, idiot, you can’t retire and ride bicycles. You have to go get a job.’
“So then [when I started looking for work], I found that people were like, ‘Who are you? We don’t know you. You’re this new person.’ So a couple years ago I made the decision: I’m not going to kill myself to be thin when nobody knows me as a thin person, and I do think it is affecting the kind of jobs I’m getting.”
Talk about reverse fat-shaming by the industry!
Weight is such a taboo topic, and while this content is going viral NOW, he’s been thin for a couple of years. There you have it, kids, the grass ain’t always greener, but we hope to see Ethan pop up in some of the new projects that Kevin Smith has been teasing online out of his universe.
