SURPRISE! Eminem just dropped a new album out of nowhere.
10 minutes ago (as this is being written), Eminem posted a visual on his Instagram for the new album which features Young M.A, Royce Da 5’9″, Ed Sheeran, Juice WRLD, Skylar Grey, Q-Tip and Anderson .Paak to name a few.
Out of all the tracks, the stand out track is “Darkness,” in which Em puts himself in the shoes of the Las Vegas shooter and talks about Mental Illness, the fact that “Registered” gun owners still can cause damage, and urges people to sign up and vote.
The media, who are skimming tracks and condemning the song have clearly not waited until the end, in which you hear all the news reports of the mass shootings. On top of releasing a statement, Slim Shady also dropped the video for it, and I will say this: It took me a good 5 minutes to stop sobbing before I could finish writing this part (now an hour and a half in from the release).
Art is supposed to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. That is the saying. And if anything can be considered (even with all the hot tracks on this album), “Darkness” will go down in history as one of Eminem’s best tracks.
The statement on his website reads:
WHEN WILL THIS END? WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE CARE.
