Mental Health is an extremely important topic all over the world, so releasing a banger that talks about that subject is a great idea, and has been fulfilled by artist Dirty Chime.
The significance of Dirty Chime’s new single titled “Fifty One Fifty” applies to a California law code for the “temporary, involuntary psychiatric commitment of individuals who present a danger to themselves or others due to signs of mental illness. It has been more generally applied to people who are considered threateningly unstable or ‘crazy.'”
Solo artist Thomas Clayton, the brain behind Dirty Chime, uses his platform by writing lyrics about his experiences, including about medicating/overmedicating, as well as escapism and the struggles mental health brings. The track itself encompasses a story about a girl who’s starting to fall apart, which leads to her seeing and hearing things that aren’t there, and can’t get a grip on her emotions. Not due to “just being a girl,” but because of her mental health.
