In the state of Rock music, especially in the more Indie Rock Genre, you spend quite a bit off time looking for GREAT MUSIC to see in concert. Luckily, there was no struggle when it came to visiting Cold War Kids and The Overcoats at the Majestic Theatre in Midtown Detroit.
The Overcoats showed off their fun and electrifying stage presence, and for not knowing the band’s music all that well on my end, I ended up a big fan by the end of their set. They even took a moment to ask the crowd what they should cover, and settled on Red Hot Chili Peppers “By The Way” and Hozier’s “Cherry Wine.” I will definitely be photographing them again given the opportunity. They were too enjoyable to pass up!
As for Cold War Kids, they kicked ass per usual. They played their newest tune “Complainer” off of ‘New Age Norms 1′ along with some of their fan favorites, and personally, I’ve enjoyed them since “Hang Me Up To Dry” off of ‘Robbers & Cowards,’ so it was an honor and privilege to catch them live that up close.
Check out the photos here, and for those who missed the Detroit show, check and see if you’re traveling to any of the areas they will be hitting next!
