Schumer Hosts First Marijuana Meeting To Formulate 2021 Federal Legalization Plan (MarijuanaMoment.net)

Publish Date: February 5, 2021

THE BOTTOM LINE:

“Key U.S. Senate leaders held a meeting with marijuana stakeholders on Friday, the first formal step toward crafting a new bill to federally legalize cannabis.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) heard from a group of advocates and stakeholders as the trio prepares to unveil draft reform legislation “in the early part of this year.”

The senators released a joint statement announcing the plan earlier this week that decried the failures of marijuana criminalization and called for a federal policy change that prioritizes repairing the harms of prohibition. Getting input from stakeholders is part of that process, they said.”

Cannabis CEOs, Targeted by Reddit, Push Back in Tweet Storm (Bloomberg.com)

Publish Date: February 12, 2021

THE BOTTOM LINE:

“A Reddit-fueled mania has sent cannabis soaring and crashing back down in recent days. Leaders of some of the marijuana industry’s biggest companies are now joining a Twitter movement that’s pushing back — with hashtags.

The tag #MSOgang has trended on the social-media platform as supporters seek to differentiate U.S. multistate operators — or MSOs — from their peers in Canada. The Reddit phenomenon has largely lumped all the companies together, obscuring what some in the industry say are critical differences.

The movement behind the hashtag has also pitted individual investors against big ones, bringing some tension with conservative institutional investors who haven’t gotten into U.S. cannabis stocks because of ongoing regulatory uncertainty.”

Cannabis Stocks Rise on Hopes of Federal Legalization in US (Yahoo! Finance)

Publish Date: February 10, 2021

THE BOTTOM LINE:

“Some stocks from the cannabis segment received another shot in the arm as third-quarter fiscal 2021 results of Canopy Growth Corporation CGC renewed hopes of legalization of cannabis at the federal-level in the United States. The company stated on its earnings call that it is accelerating its U.S. growth strategy in anticipation of removal of the federal ban on cannabis products in the country.

The company believes that it can enter the U.S. THC market (Tetrahydrocannabinol or recreational cannabis) in 2021, following the related legislation during the upcoming congress. So far, cannabis is legalized for medicinal purposes in majority of the U.S. states. Some of these states have also legalized recreational cannabis. However, the use and possession of cannabis is illegal under federal law for any purpose. Removal of the federal ban in the United States will open a huge market for pot growers.”

“Cannabis and sex can be a controversial topic. It’s been used as an aphrodisiac for thousands of years, with early recorded uses in 7th century India as a prelude to spiritual tantric sex rituals. Many cannabis consumers today say it improves their sex lives, but on the other hand, some say it can negatively impact sex, such as making orgasms more difficult for men.
